Endemol-makes-Bollywood-debut

With the popularity of Bollywood, Nollywood and Bublegum Films this makes absolute sense :-)

After producing reality shows like Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss, Endemol is now venturing into Bollywood with a Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit, Traffic that released on January 7 this year.  It’s considered to be one of the highest-grossing Malayala
m projects so far in the calendar year. Several top film production companies like UTV and Venus were in the running to acquire the Hindi remake rights of the project.
Shooting to start soon
Endemol’s Bollywood team plans to start shooting in the next two months. The film’s story, which requires an ensemble cast, will be shot during the monsoons in the city. Traffic is a thriller written by brother duo, Bobby and Sanjay. It’s based on a road trip from Kochi to Palakkad, inspired by real-life events of a Chennai-based couple. The film’s plot revolves around a rainy day in the lives of a slew of characters that cross paths at a traffic junction in the city. The Hindi remake will be directed by Rajesh Pillai, the director of the Malayalam original. It will release early next year. Deepak Dhar of Endemol, without going into too many details, says, “Yes, we have acquired the remake rights and will start filming soon. Work is in progress and it’s a proud moment for us to get full-on into Bollywood.”
